Operating income increased 7% to $175.8 million, or $1.42 a share, from $163.8 million, or $1.24 a share, last year. The New York-based insurance company said revenue in the three months ended March 31 rose to $2.06 billion from $1.93 billion in the comparable period last year. SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Sunstone Hotel Investors Inc. late Wednesday reported first-quarter net earnings of $4.83 million, down from $17.8 million last year. The company posted a loss available to common stockholders of $359,000, or a penny a share, compared with a profit of $13.7 million, or 25 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Adjusted funds from operations available to common stockholders were $29.9 million, or 48 cents a share, versus $29.2 million or 49 cents a share, in the same quarter last year.
