GFS Investments - Middle East, an online trader in the global foreign exchange and commodity futures market, has received a licence to open an office in the Dubai International Financial Centre. The firm is a fully owned subsidiary of the US based GFS Forex and Futures, which is already a member of the Dubai gold and Commodities Exchange.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, the Chairman of Dubai World, has said the mega holding firm is looking to increase its level of investment in Australia. Bin Sulayem met a number if high ranking Australian officials last week including Deputy Prime Minister and Federal Minister of Transport Mark Vaile. Trade between the two nations has risen significantly in recent years, while around 15,000 Emiratis visit Australia every year on holiday.

The shares of the Sanad Insurance and Reinsurance Co-operative Company made a solid opening on the Tadawul All Share Index yesterday, Saturday, as they advanced 410% to close at SR51, reported Arab News. The SR10 Sanad shares reached a high of SR54.5, after opening at SR36, before falling back a little. Meanwhile, the Tasi made a very slight gain of 1.8 points to close at 7.503.3.

The New York based Integration Capital and Trade is to invest in Oman’s Financial Services Company. The ICT will purchase shares of Financial Services from the Dhofar International Development and Investment Holding Company. The ICT is an investment bank focused on transactions and investments in the Middle East region, with a presence in Oman, the UAE, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
