Asian rebound on U.S. recovery

HONG KONG (MarketWatch) — Asian markets rebounded early Tuesday, inspired by a strong overnight recovery on Wall Street, as bargain buying lifted financial stocks such as Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group and Mizuho Financial Group in Japan, and Macquarie Bank in Australia. In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 index rose 0.5% to 17,001.74 and the broader Topix index added 0.4% to 1,673.78. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 rose 1.6% to 6,015.10, New Zealand’s NZX 50 index climbed 1.5% to 4,134.49 and South Korea’s Kospi advanced 1.4% to 1,880.99.
