HONG KONG (MarketWatch) — The People’s Bank of China will arrange 5.5 billion yuan ($787 million) in loans to assist in earthquake relief efforts in the stricken areas of Sichuan and Gansu provinces. The central bank will extend the funding to help commercial banks and rural cooperative lenders in the provinces, according to wire reports which cited a statement from the PBOC.
